No New Games From Rockstar Until At Least Spring 2017

by on May 19, 2016

It’s been rumored that Rockstar Games is working on some new material….unfortunately, it might be a while before any of it gets to our playing boxes. During Take Two’s earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the developer of GTA and Red Dead Redemption would not be releasing a new game within the 2016-2017 fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2017.

How will the company stay afloat then? Take-Two also owns 2K Games, which WILL be putting out new titles between now and next March….that’s how. Take-Two CFO Lanie Goldstein mentioned an expected 75/25 revenue split for the fiscal year, with the 75% coming from 2K and the 25% coming from whatever GTA Online generates.

Does this mean Rockstar will have nothing prepared to show off at E3 next month? Not necessarily. Zelnick has also recently mentioned that Rockstar will have “something big” to show off at E3 2016…it just may not be something playable yet. It’s widely rumored that this mystery game is another Red Dead title.
